On December 5, 2019 - which coincides with International Volunteer Day - our very own Penny Steffen, Territory Manager in Alberta for our Production Animals Business Unit, received the 2019 Stars of Alberta Volunteer Award. This ceremony recognizes extraordinary Albertans whose volunteer efforts have contributed to the well-being of their community and fellow community members.

Penny was nominated by Tracy Halerewich of the Community Services Department in the Town of Grimshaw and she received a reply from Premier Jason Kenney's office on mid-November stating that her "many volunteer contributions and overwhelming community spirit have not gone unnoticed."

We at Vetoquinol are all very proud of Penny and of her involvement in her community. As a registered veterinary technologist, Penny has applied her skills to ensuring the welfare of rescued pets at the Peace Regional SPCA. Numerous organizations have benefitted from Penny’s knowledge and love of animals, including the Grande Prairie Regional College Animal Health Technology Advisory Board.

This is what she had to say on her big night:

"Words cannot explain how honoured I am to have been awarded a Stars of Alberta Volunteer Award. I have so many emotions and it really hasn’t sunk in. I am so grateful to my friend Tracy Halerewich for nominating me and for coming to Government House to be with me for the presentation. Thanks to my Mom, friend Vanessa and my manager and friend Paul for attending and being a part of the celebration. It truly was a spectacular evening and I feel so very blessed. I share this with all the amazing volunteers I get to work with every day - we make a great team and I am grateful for each of you and your dedication to our communities. ❤️"
